Inchcape Shipping Services provides ports and marine management support to merchant shipping clients. 

Challenges

The workflow process for updating their bespoke work management system had become cumbersome and frustratingly ineffective so consequently internal stakeholders were not seeing their required updates being delivered on time.

Task

Engaged as the Project/Product Manager to revamp the ways of working, increase transparency and improve the production workflow from business idea to delivery.

Actions

• Remotely led international external partners including multiple squads of BAs, solution designers, developers and testers. 
• Reorganised and optimised agile Kanban and Scrum ways of working across workflow management, product backlog management/prioritisation, sprint planning/delivery, release planning and product governance.
• Introduced separate Jira boards for separate meetings to discuss separate stages of the workflow cycle.
• Introduced consistent estimation framework and understanding of the development team velocity,  

Results

• Successfully provided stakeholders with an enhanced totally transparent view of where their high-level initial ideas, refined requirements or eventual features sat within the workflow. 
• Introducing a more robust agile workflow was essential in successfully managing external end client expectations and consequently helped improve relationships internally across the board.
